The red candle is often used as a metaphor and to praise the noble quality of teachers. The red candle in the west is a reflection of Shaanxi Normal University. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that the prosperity of the country, the revitalization of the nation, and the development of education require us to vigorously cultivate and create a team of high-quality and professional teachers with high moral character, excellent skills in practice, and full of vitality. As a teacher training college rooted in the western part of the motherland, Shaanxi Normal University has always insisted on resonating with the ups and downs of national destiny, and is closely connected with the development of national education, bearing in mind the responsibility and mission of teacher training colleges and adhering to the service of basic education, and carrying the banner of education in the west with its ideals, beliefs, and sentiments, and formed the unique "Western Red Candle Spirit". Over the past 70 years since its founding, the university has cultivated more than 300,000 talents of various types, of which about 100,000 students have quietly dedicated themselves to the front line of basic education in the west.
